The Band "Big Pink" Fan Art T-Shirt
The Band "Big Pink" Fan Art T-Shirt
Big Pink was the affectionate nickname of the house in New York where Bob Dylan and The Band recorded The Basement Tapes and The Band wrote Music from Big Pink. A couple references from "The Weight" include the dog bowl for Jake and the tail of the devil popping out from the door. In the grass, there's a wheel where the shape of the grass kind of looks like fire, aka "This Wheel's on Fire." In the windows of the house are five poorly illustrated hawks (scratchboard master I am not) to represent the five members of the band who used to be the backup band for Ronnie Hawkins and were known as the The Hawks. The intention of the solitary hawk in the sky was meant to symbolize Bob Dylan, who also had The Band as his backup band and became a fervent supporter of them.
